About Aequitas Financial — LGBTQ+ Fee-Only Fiduciary
Justice. Equity. Fairness. Built for a community the financial industry has overlooked for too long.
Authentic.
Affirming.
Accountable.
Most LGBTQ+ clients have sat across from an advisor and felt like a footnote. Authentic means that stops here — you never have to edit yourself to work with us. Affirming means we start from your life — your relationship, your family, your goals — not a template. Accountable means we show up, we follow through, and we tell you the truth even when it's uncomfortable. That's what you should expect from every advisor. It's what you'll actually get here.
Every LGBTQ+ person knows what it feels like to walk into a room and wonder if you'll have to explain or hide yourself. I got tired of being that room. I built Aequitas so that room doesn't exist anymore — not here. You walk in as you are, and we build from there.

Why Aequitas Exists
The financial industry was not built for us. We are changing that.
The data is clear — LGBTQ+ Americans face unique and compounding financial challenges that most advisors are completely unprepared to address:
Earn approximately 90 cents for every dollar earned by heterosexual counterparts (Community Marketing & Insights, 2021)
Carry 16% more student loan and credit card debt (BrightMoney, 2022)
51% have less than $5,000 in savings — 20% have no savings at all (MAP Research, 2023)
Are less likely to be homeowners (LGBTQ+ Economics, 2019)
Have lower average credit scores (LGBTQ+ Economics)
Incur significant additional costs through IVF, surrogacy, adoption, and gender-affirming care
Twice as many LGBTQ+ people report feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and depressed about their finances compared to non-LGBTQ+ people. And 55% have faced discrimination from someone in the financial services industry — a number that rises to 74% among transgender individuals.
It does not have to be like this.

Meet the Founder
Meet Taylor Bell
Founder, Aequitas Financial
I am the founder of Aequitas Financial — a financial planning firm built by and for the LGBTQ+ community. For nearly a decade, I have specialized in financial planning for LGBTQ+ professionals, with a focus on the unique challenges and opportunities that come with our community's financial lives.
Before launching Aequitas, I spent years in the financial services industry biting my tongue in response to off-color comments and hiding my personal life for fear of losing clients. Years of tiptoeing around a conservative industry left me exhausted — and certain that our community deserved something different. Aequitas is that something different.
When I am not meeting with clients, you will find me traveling with my husband Chance and our two husky pups, Fen and Ezra — usually somewhere with good coffee, great food, and ideally a beach nearby. Los Angeles is home base, but our community is everywhere.
Etymology
The Meaning of Aequitas
In Roman philosophy, aequitas (eh-kwi-tas) represented the principle of fairness and equity — the idea that systems should serve people justly, regardless of who they are. We carry that principle into modern financial planning.
Our vision is a world where LGBTQ+ professionals have access to financial planning that acknowledges their unique challenges and empowers them to build the lives they envision — with confidence, security, and purpose.
